Account Health

A quick diagnostic that shows how well your FabWise account is set up and flags anything that needs attention before it affects your workers' shifts.

Why it matters

A fully configured account means accurate time tracking and fewer surprises on payday. The health check catches missing settings and configuration conflicts before they become real problems on the shop floor.

How it works

FabWise looks at five areas of your account and scores each one based on what's configured and what's missing. The scores combine into an overall health score from 0 to 100.

The five areas are:

  • Business Basics — your company info like timezone, address, and phone number
  • Team Structure — departments, workers, labor rates, and PINs
  • Time Tracking — pay periods, labor codes, schedules, and shift types
  • Compliance — reserved for future labor-compliance checks; no items today
  • Devices & Access — admin users, verified emails, and kiosk devices

The health check also looks for conflicts — things that contradict each other, like requiring meal breaks but having break tracking turned off.

If there's a critical issue (like no active admin user or no departments), your score is capped at 50 no matter how well the rest is configured.

Where to find it

  • Page: Settings — the health summary appears at the top of the page when your score is below 86.
  • Who can see it: Account owners and admins.

The summary only shows up when there's something to fix. Once your account scores 86 or above, it disappears — you're in good shape.

What you'll see

Health summary

When your score is below 86, a summary at the top of Settings shows:

  • Your overall score and grade
  • A list of specific items that need attention
  • Links that take you directly to the setting or page where you can fix each item

Grades

Score Grade What it means
86 – 100 Complete Your account is fully configured. The summary disappears.
61 – 85 Good Most things are set up. A few items could use attention.
31 – 60 Partial Key settings are missing. Your team may hit issues with time tracking or compliance.
0 – 30 Needs Attention Major configuration gaps. Set up the basics before going live.

Conflicts

If FabWise detects settings that contradict each other, they show up as conflicts — flagged separately from the score because they're real problems to resolve, not just missing settings. For example:

  • Meal breaks are required but break tracking is turned off
  • Workers are assigned to departments that have been deactivated
  • Break tracking is on but no break types are configured

What to do

If your score is 86 or above: nothing. You're set.

If items need attention: click the link next to each item — it takes you to the right page to fix it. Common fixes:

  • Timezone is UTC — Settings > Company and set your local timezone
  • Workers missing departments — open each worker's profile and assign a department
  • Workers missing labor rates — open each worker's profile and set their hourly rate
  • Workers missing PINs — open each worker's profile and set a 4-digit PIN for kiosk access
  • No pay period set — Settings > Scheduling and configure your pay period
  • No kiosk devices — pair a tablet from the Devices page

If there are conflicts: these take priority. A conflict means two settings are fighting each other — read the description and decide which setting needs to change.

Common questions

Q: Does the health check affect how FabWise works?
A: No. It's purely informational. A low score doesn't disable any features — it just means some things aren't configured yet, which could lead to inaccurate data or compliance gaps.

Q: How often does it update?
A: Every time you open Settings. If you fix something, the score updates the next time you visit.

Q: My score is stuck below 86 but I've set everything up. What's wrong?
A: Check for conflicts — they can keep your score capped. Also make sure all your hourly workers have departments, labor rates, and PINs assigned; it's common to miss one or two.

Q: Can I dismiss the summary without fixing everything?
A: It hides automatically once your score reaches 86. If you don't need certain items (like kiosk devices because you only use workstations), that's fine — the score is a guide, not a requirement.
