End Shift on the Kiosk

End your shift when you're done working. FabWise records your departure time and runs automated checks.

Why it matters

Ending your shift stops the clock on your work time. FabWise records exactly when you stopped, handles any open breaks, and runs checks to determine if the shift can be auto-approved or needs supervisor review. Accurate shift endings mean accurate pay.

How it works

When you end your shift, FabWise checks a few things:

  1. Are you on time, early, or late? Compared to your scheduled end time and the rounding window.
  2. Do you have an open break? If you started a break and forgot to end it, FabWise will close it for you.
  3. Meal break check. If your account requires meal breaks and you didn't take one, FabWise asks about it.

After you confirm, your shift status changes to "completed" and the automated inspection checks run.

Where to find it

  • Kiosk: the main screen when you have an active shift
  • Who can use it: any worker with an active shift

What you'll see

On time (within rounding window)

No questions. Tap End Shift and you're done. If a meal break question applies, you'll see that first.

Leaving early

If you're ending your shift well before the scheduled end, you'll see a two-option prompt:

  • "I'm leaving now" — you're actually leaving early. Your departure is recorded at the current time. Your supervisor sees this during review.
  • "I forgot to end my shift earlier" — you stopped working earlier and are just now clocking out. Your scheduled end time is used instead of the current time.

Staying late

If you're past your scheduled end, you'll see a similar prompt:

  • "I worked late" — you stayed to finish work. Your actual end time is recorded.
  • "I forgot to end my shift on time" — you finished on time but forgot to end your shift earlier. Your scheduled end time is used instead.

Open break

If you have a break still in progress, FabWise ends it automatically when you end your shift. You'll see a notice that your break was closed.

Meal break prompt

If your account tracks meal breaks and you didn't take one, you may see:

  • "I took my meal break" — records the break as taken
  • "I skipped my meal break" — records that you chose to skip it

What to do

Just end your shift when you're done. Answer any prompts honestly. If you worked overtime, say so. If you forgot to end your shift earlier, say that too. Your supervisor sees the scheduled time, actual time, and your answer — all three.

If you forgot to end your shift: End it as soon as you remember. If it's the next day, tell your supervisor — they can adjust the time during review.

Common questions

Q: What if I end my shift a few minutes early or late?
A: If you're within the rounding window (a few minutes either way of your scheduled end), you're considered on time. No questions, no flag.

Q: Will I get in trouble for leaving early?
A: That's between you and your supervisor. FabWise records the facts — when you were scheduled, when you actually left, and what you told the system. Your supervisor reviews this information.

Q: What if I forget to end my shift entirely?
A: FabWise has an auto-end feature. If your shift runs past the maximum duration (set by your admin), it's automatically ended and flagged for supervisor review.

Q: Does ending late automatically give me overtime?
A: It depends on your answer. If you say "I worked late," your actual end time is used and the extra time counts toward hours worked. If you say "I forgot to end my shift on time," your scheduled end time is used instead.
