Setting Up Your Shop
When you first turn on FabWise, a short setup gets your shop ready to track time. You can do these steps in any order, but this is the smoothest path.
1. Set your time zone
FabWise records every clock-in and clock-out in your shop's local time. Open Account Settings and confirm your time zone before anyone clocks in. All hours, exports, and reports use this setting.
2. Add your people
Go to Users and add everyone who will clock in or manage the shop. Each person gets a role:
- Hourly workers clock in and out and record their shifts.
- Supervisors review and correct shifts for their team.
- Admins manage settings, users, and exports for the whole shop.
You can change a person's role later as responsibilities shift.
3. Set up scheduling (optional but recommended)
If your shifts include scheduled meal breaks, set up your schedules so FabWise can carry the right break with each shift. This also makes shift review faster, because FabWise knows what was expected.
4. Do a test clock-in
Have one person clock in and out at the kiosk or on their workstation. Then open the shift in Shift Detail to see how the record looks. This is the best way to learn the flow before your whole team starts.
5. Invite the rest of your team
Once you're comfortable, let everyone start clocking in. FabWise captures the time; you review and approve it; your payroll provider handles pay.
What FabWise does and does not do
FabWise captures accurate time records — who worked, when, and on what. It does not calculate pay, classify overtime, or enforce labor law. Your payroll provider (ADP, Gusto, QuickBooks, and others) uses your exported hours to do that.
