Your First Day on Workstation

What to expect the first time you pick up your Workstation tablet — there's no sign-in, just open it. Where your schedule is, where to find messages from your supervisor, and what you can do here vs. the shared kiosk.

Why it matters

Workstation is your FabWise app — your schedule, your jobs, your performance, messages from supervisors. Your supervisor sets up your tablet for you and hands it over; it's already set up for you, so there's no FabWise login. The kiosk is shared; your Workstation tablet is yours.

You don't need Workstation to work at FabWise — the kiosk does everything required for clocking in and out. Workstation is for the things between shifts: checking what's coming up, seeing how your hours look, reading what your supervisor sent.

Your supervisor already set this tablet up for you (see, on their side, [Set Up a Worker's Tablet](set-up-a-tablet.md)). So you just:

Unlock the tablet the normal way — fingerprint, face, or PIN. That's the tablet's own lock screen, the one your shop set up; it isn't a FabWise password.
Tap the FabWise Workstation icon.

You land on the Dashboard, already as you. No passkey, no password, no email, no codes.

If you ever open it and see "This tablet isn't set up yet," the tablet hasn't been set up (or its access was turned off) — tell your supervisor and they'll set it up.

What's on the Dashboard

The dashboard shows what's relevant to you right now:

Current shift — if you're clocked in, your shift summary is at the top: shift name, when you started, hours worked so far, scheduled end, and a progress bar. Below it is a big End Shift button to clock out from your tablet without walking back to the shared kiosk.
Active task — if you're tracking time against a job task, it appears below the shift card with the labor code and how long you've been on it.
Start Personal Time — for stepping away for an appointment or personal task (unpaid, tracked separately).
Next scheduled shift — when you're not on shift, this shows when you're back: date, time, and department.

If you're not on shift and don't have one coming up soon, the dashboard is mostly empty. That's normal.

Navigating Workstation

The navigation is on the left (large screens) or bottom (phones/tablets):

Dashboard

The home screen. Current shift, active task, next shift.

Schedule (Shifts)

Your full schedule — past and upcoming. Tap any shift for details: scheduled times, your actual times once worked, breaks, and supervisor notes.

Jobs

The jobs you're working on, and where you track tasks during your shift — tap Start Task to track time against a labor code and job, end it when you switch work. The kiosk shows your active task but doesn't start or stop tasks; that happens here.

Settings

Your preferences — display photo, language, and Sign out this tablet (use this only when handing the tablet back; your supervisor then sets it up for the next person).

What you can do where

Both the kiosk and Workstation can start and end your shift — use whichever is closer. Breaks and personal time go through the shared kiosk only.

Kiosk (shared tablet on the shop floor): clock in/out, meal breaks, personal time.

Your Workstation tablet: start/end your shift, start/end/edit tasks during your shift, view your schedule and jobs, read supervisor messages.

You can't change your hours from anywhere — if a shift is wrong, tell your supervisor.

Common questions

My dashboard is empty

If you're not clocked in and have no shift in the next few days, that's normal. If you expect a shift and don't see it, ask your supervisor.

It says "This tablet isn't set up yet"

The tablet hasn't been set up for you yet, or its access was turned off. Tell your supervisor — they set it up from the admin console in about a minute.

I got a different tablet

That's fine — your supervisor sets up the new one and the old one stops working. Nothing you captured is lost; it's all saved on FabWise's servers.

A push notification arrived but I don't see anything

Open Workstation and check the relevant section (Schedule, Jobs). Pull down to refresh if needed.
