Why it matters
Summer Fridays and a paid Birthday day feel free until you add up the hours across your whole shop. The Benefits Cost Report turns approved time off into a real number — what it cost you, in dollars, for any period you choose — so you know what you're spending on top of regular pay.
How it works
For the period you pick, the report totals every approved time off entry — both your regular time off policies and your benefit policies — and multiplies the hours by each worker's pay rate at the time it was approved. That rate is locked in when the time off is approved, so if you change a worker's pay rate later, past reports don't change.
If a worker doesn't have a pay rate set up in FabWise, their hours still show — they're just called out as unpriced instead of showing as zero dollars, so you know the number is missing, not actually nothing.

- Who can see it: Account owners and managers who can approve time off. This report shows individual pay rates, so it's held to a tighter tier than most reports — a demo or read-only viewer won't see it.
What you'll see
Policy summary
Every policy with approved time off in the period — Vacation, Sick, Summer Fridays, whatever you've got — with its total hours and total dollars for the period. A policy with any unpriced hours shows a badge calling that out.
By employee
Underneath each policy, a breakdown by worker: their hours and dollars for that policy in the period, with the same unpriced badge where it applies.
What to do
Pick a pay period and review the totals. If a policy or worker shows unpriced hours and you want a dollar figure, add a pay rate to that worker's profile — future periods will price correctly. Past periods stay as they were when they happened; the report doesn't rewrite history when a rate changes.
Common questions
Q: Why do dollars for last quarter stay the same even though I just gave someone a raise?
A: The rate used is the one in effect when the time off was approved, not today's rate. That way a report you already reviewed doesn't quietly change later.
Q: A worker's row shows "unpriced" instead of a dollar amount — is that a bug?
A: No — it means that worker doesn't have a pay rate on file. Their hours are still counted; there's just no dollar figure to show until a rate is added.
Q: Does this report include pending time off requests?
A: No — only approved time off counts. A pending request doesn't affect the report until it's decided.
Q: Can I export this report?
A: Not yet — it's a screen you review in FabWise. Regular hours worked and time off still export to payroll as usual; see Time Off in the Hours Report.
