How to delete your account

Permanently remove your FabWise account and the data tied to it.

Why it matters

Your data, your call. If you're done with FabWise — switching tools, winding down the business, or just want your information gone — you have the right to delete your account. California residents have this right explicitly under CCPA's "right to delete"; FabWise honors the same right for everyone.

Deletion is irreversible after the export window. We give you a 30-day buffer to change your mind or export your data first.

How deletion works

  1. You initiate — request deletion through the steps below.
  2. 30-day data export window — your account moves to a "canceled" state. Nobody can use the app, but the data is preserved so you can pull a final export. (See How to export your data.)
  3. Permanent deletion — 30 days after cancellation, your account and all customer data tied to it are permanently deleted from FabWise's production database. Backups containing your data persist for the standard backup retention window (30 days for daily, 1 year for weekly) and are deleted on the standard rolling cadence.

How to request deletion

If you're an account admin

  1. Sign in at admin.fabwise.app.
  2. Go to Settings → Billing → Cancel Subscription.
  3. Confirm cancellation. The cancel button is at the bottom of the billing page (where destructive actions live).
  4. Your account moves to "canceled" state immediately — nobody can use it. The 30-day export window starts.
  5. You'll receive a confirmation email + a reminder email 23 days into the window.
  6. After 30 days, deletion runs automatically.

Before you cancel: consider exporting your data first. See How to export your data. Many admins forget and lose the chance.

If you're a regular user (employee on a customer's account)

Your admin owns the account, so they own the deletion decision for the account as a whole. You have two paths:

Path 1 — Just-your-data deletion. You can request deletion of YOUR personal information without affecting the rest of the account.

  1. Email [email protected] with the subject "Privacy Request — Delete My Data."
  2. Include: your name, the email address you use with FabWise, the company you work for, and a brief reason if you'd like to share.
  3. We verify your identity (we may ask for additional information) and process the deletion within 45 calendar days, with a one-time 45-day extension where reasonably necessary.

When we delete your data, we keep what we're legally required to keep (e.g., audit-log records of your prior activity for security-incident-investigation purposes) — and we tell you what was kept and why in the response.

Path 2 — Ask your admin to remove you from the account. This is faster (immediate), but the admin retains a deactivated record of your prior activity (shifts, etc.) for the account's records. If you want everything gone, including the deactivated record, follow Path 1.

What gets deleted

When a full account is deleted (admin path), permanent deletion includes:

  • The account record itself (company info, settings)
  • All users (admins, managers, supervisors, employees)
  • All shifts, breaks, jobs, customers, tasks, comments, documents
  • Audit logs (after the retention window, where applicable)
  • Email verification tokens, password reset tokens, session records
  • Stripe subscription is canceled (Stripe retains its own billing records per its policies, separate from FabWise)

When a single user requests deletion (user-direct path), we delete:

  • Personal information: name, email, phone, emergency contact, address, date of birth, employment metadata
  • Authentication credentials: password digest, passkey credentials, PIN digest
  • Notification preferences

We retain (with anonymization where possible):

  • Audit logs referencing your prior activity, where retention is legally required
  • Aggregate operational data (e.g., total hours worked on a job, with your name redacted)

What we cannot delete

  • Stripe billing records — Stripe retains its own records for tax and regulatory purposes. We've passed your cancellation request to Stripe; their retention is governed by Stripe's privacy policy.
  • Backups within retention windows — daily backups retained 30 days; weekly backups retained 1 year. Your data may persist in those backups until they roll off, even after live-database deletion. We do NOT restore from backup specifically to delete a single user's data; deletion happens forward through the rolling backup cadence.
  • Records we're legally required to keep — for example, audit logs of certain financial transactions, where retention is mandated by tax or employment law.

Common questions

Q: I changed my mind. Can I un-delete?
A: Within the 30-day window, yes. Sign back in at admin.fabwise.app; you'll be prompted to reactivate. After 30 days, no — the deletion is permanent.

Q: How long does it take?
A: For the admin self-service path: account moves to canceled-state immediately; deletion runs automatically 30 days later. For user-direct privacy@ requests: within 45 days.

Q: Will my admin / employer be notified that I requested deletion?
A: For admin-self-service: deletion is the admin's own action. For user-direct privacy requests: the request stays between you and FabWise unless required by law (rare).

Q: Can I delete just some of my data, not all of it?
A: Yes. Email [email protected] describing what specifically you want removed.

Q: What happens to my Stripe charges?
A: Cancellation halts auto-renewal. Per our Terms of Service, there are no refunds for the current paid period; you keep access through the period's end. After deletion, no further charges occur.

Q: Is there a fee?
A: No. CCPA-style deletion requests are free of charge.
