Set Up Workstation on Mac
Get your private FabWise app in your browser on your Mac. One-time setup, then sign in with Touch ID or your Apple Watch.
Why it matters
The Workstation is your private FabWise app — your schedule, your jobs, your performance, your messages from supervisors. On your Mac, it runs in your browser. You unlock it with Touch ID or your Apple Watch; no password to remember.
Setup takes about 2 minutes.
What you need
- A Mac running macOS Ventura (13) or newer
- Touch ID (built into most modern MacBooks), an Apple Watch paired with your Mac, or your Mac's login password as a fallback
- The enrollment link from your admin — it expires 10 minutes after they generate it
- Safari, Chrome, or Edge browser
If your Mac is older than macOS Ventura, update it first: Apple menu → System Settings → General → Software Update. If you can't update, you'll have to use a phone or tablet instead.
Step 1. Open the enrollment link
Your admin sends you the enrollment link by email, message, or chat. Open it. The link opens in your default browser.
You should see a page that says "Enroll for FabWise Workstation" with your name and a button.
If your admin only has a QR code, ask them to send the link instead — a Mac can't scan a QR code easily.
Step 2. Confirm your name
The enrollment page shows your name and profile photo. Check that it's actually you. If not, stop — tell your admin. The link was meant for someone else.
If it's correct, click Enroll This Device.
Step 3. Unlock with Touch ID or Apple Watch
macOS pops up a system prompt: "Save a passkey for fabwise.app?"
- Click Continue.
- Touch the Touch ID sensor on your keyboard, or double-press the side button on your Apple Watch if it's paired.
- If you don't have either, type your Mac's login password.
- macOS saves a passkey for FabWise to your iCloud Keychain.
You'll see a confirmation that enrollment is complete.
Step 4. Bookmark Workstation
Macs don't have home-screen icons like phones do. Bookmark Workstation instead:
- Go to
https://workstation.fabwise.app. - In Safari: Bookmarks menu → Add Bookmark, save to Favorites.
- In Chrome: Bookmarks menu → Bookmark this tab, save to Bookmarks bar.
- In Edge: Favorites menu → Add this page, save to Favorites bar.
You can now click the bookmark from the bar at the top of your browser to launch Workstation.
For an even quicker shortcut, you can use the dock:
- Safari: File menu → Add to Dock.
- Chrome: three-dot menu → Save and share → Create shortcut → check "Open as window."
- Edge: three-dot menu → Apps → Install this site as an app.
Step 5. Sign in
- Open
https://workstation.fabwise.appfrom your bookmark or dock. - Click Sign in with passkey.
- Touch ID, Apple Watch, or password confirms it's you.
You're in.
Day-to-day use
Every time you open Workstation:
- Click the bookmark or dock shortcut.
- Click Sign in with passkey.
- Touch ID, Apple Watch, or password.
That's it. No password to type into FabWise, no email, no two-factor codes.
Troubleshooting
"This link has expired"
Enrollment links expire 10 minutes after your admin generates them. Ask your admin to generate a new one.
"Already used"
The link only works once. If you tried to enroll twice (or someone else used your link), ask your admin to generate a new one.
Touch ID isn't recognized
- Make sure Touch ID is set up: System Settings → Touch ID & Password.
- If Touch ID fails, macOS falls back to your login password — that also works.
- If your Mac doesn't have Touch ID at all and you don't have an Apple Watch, you'll use your password every time. That's normal.
"Passkey not found" when signing in
This means the passkey was deleted from iCloud Keychain, or you're signing in on a different device than the one you enrolled. Ask your admin to generate a new enrollment link.
I got a new Mac
Ask your admin to enroll your new Mac. They'll send you a fresh enrollment link, you'll open it on the new Mac, and you're back in. Your old Mac stops working as soon as the new one is enrolled — this is by design.
I want to use Workstation on my Mac AND my iPhone
Workstation is one device per worker, by design. If you enroll your iPhone, your Mac stops working — and vice versa. Pick the device you'll use most often and stick with it. If you change your mind later, your admin can re-enroll you on the other device.
Where to find it
- Workstation URL:
https://workstation.fabwise.app - Who generates the enrollment link: your shop's admin, in their FabWise admin panel
- How long the link is valid: 10 minutes, one use only
