Set Up Workstation on Windows PC
Get your private FabWise app in your browser on your Windows PC. One-time setup, then sign in with Windows Hello.
Why it matters
The Workstation is your private FabWise app — your schedule, your jobs, your performance, your messages from supervisors. On your Windows PC, it runs in your browser. You unlock it with Windows Hello (face, fingerprint, or PIN); no FabWise password to remember.
Setup takes about 2 minutes.
What you need
- A PC running Windows 10 (version 1903 or newer) or Windows 11
- Windows Hello set up — face recognition, fingerprint, or PIN
- The enrollment link from your admin — it expires 10 minutes after they generate it
- Edge or Chrome browser
If Windows Hello isn't set up yet, open Settings → Accounts → Sign-in options and add a PIN, fingerprint, or face. At minimum, you need a PIN.
Step 1. Open the enrollment link
Your admin sends you the enrollment link by email, message, or chat. Open it. The link opens in your default browser.
You should see a page that says "Enroll for FabWise Workstation" with your name and a button.
If your admin only has a QR code, ask them to send the link instead — a PC can't scan a QR code easily.
Step 2. Confirm your name
The enrollment page shows your name and profile photo. Check that it's actually you. If not, stop — tell your admin. The link was meant for someone else.
If it's correct, click Enroll This Device.
Step 3. Unlock with Windows Hello
Windows pops up a security prompt: "Save a passkey for fabwise.app?"
- Click OK or Continue.
- Use your face, fingerprint, or PIN — whichever Windows Hello sign-in methods you've enabled.
- Windows saves the passkey for FabWise.
You'll see a confirmation that enrollment is complete.
Step 4. Pin Workstation to your taskbar
So you can launch it like a normal app:
- Go to
https://workstation.fabwise.app. - In Edge: click the three-dot menu → Apps → Install this site as an app. Edge installs Workstation as a standalone app and pins it to your taskbar and Start menu.
- In Chrome: click the three-dot menu → Save and share → Create shortcut. Check "Open as window" and click Create. A Workstation shortcut appears on your desktop; drag it to your taskbar to pin.
You can now click the icon in your taskbar to launch Workstation.
Step 5. Sign in
- Click the FabWise Workstation icon in your taskbar.
- Click Sign in with passkey.
- Windows Hello confirms it's you.
You're in.
Day-to-day use
Every time you open Workstation:
- Click the FabWise Workstation taskbar icon.
- Click Sign in with passkey.
- Use Windows Hello.
That's it. No FabWise password to type, no email, no two-factor codes.
Troubleshooting
"This link has expired"
Enrollment links expire 10 minutes after your admin generates them. Ask your admin to generate a new one.
"Already used"
The link only works once. If you tried to enroll twice (or someone else used your link), ask your admin to generate a new one.
Windows Hello isn't working
- Make sure Windows Hello is set up: Settings → Accounts → Sign-in options.
- A PIN is the minimum requirement. Add it if you haven't.
- Face recognition needs a compatible IR camera. Fingerprint needs a compatible reader. Most modern business laptops have one or both; older desktops usually don't.
- If your PC doesn't have a Windows Hello-compatible camera or fingerprint reader, the PIN still works.
"Passkey not found" when signing in
This means the passkey was deleted from Windows, or you're signing in on a different PC than the one you enrolled. Ask your admin to generate a new enrollment link.
I got a new Windows PC
Passkeys stored in Windows don't sync between PCs automatically. Ask your admin to enroll your new PC.
I want to use Workstation on my PC AND my phone
Workstation is one device per worker, by design. If you enroll your phone, your PC stops working — and vice versa. Pick the device you'll use most often and stick with it. If you change your mind later, your admin can re-enroll you on the other device.
I'm sharing this PC with other people
Windows Hello passkeys are tied to your Windows user account, not the PC. As long as everyone signs into Windows with their own account, you can each have your own Workstation passkey on the same PC. If you all share a single Windows account, only one Workstation enrollment can be active at a time.
Where to find it
- Workstation URL:
https://workstation.fabwise.app - Who generates the enrollment link: your shop's admin, in their FabWise admin panel
- How long the link is valid: 10 minutes, one use only
